Did exactly what I needed for an old Mac, but didn't work on an old PC.

Did everything I needed to get my 2011 iMac up and running (necessary for a clean boot and to make sure the USB drive is free of potential viruses) so has already signed up at 1 use paid for. .On the other hand it doesn't work on my 2003 PC (which doesn't recognize it but has USB support and works with other USB sticks so it should work).

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Modern

This is the third purchase. I've never had any problems with them other than losing the caps. The company sent me some caps and recommended clipping the cap on the back during use. Very well made and the write protect switch is great! I originally got this because I was tired of viruses being transferred to my flash drive when I was using computers at work and then infecting my home computer with them. With the write-protect switch enabled, you can use the flash drive anywhere and not have to…

Great Way to Avoid Malware Infections

If you're looking for a flash drive that you can plug into public computers (or those of your friends) without worrying about a devastating virus infection, this is it the right flash drive for you. You can have full access to your music, videos and files anywhere, but backdoors, viruses, trojans and other malware cannot infect your flash drive and its data as long as you keep the drive locked. An easy-to-use switch blocks bad things and protects you. As a technical service provider, the…

Very reliable and recommended product.

Very solid product. The physical write protect switch is an amazing feature that few other flash drives have. Worth the money for the physical write-protect switch alone. As an added bonus, the flash drive is also fast. The drive is as fast as some of the performance rated flash drives I've bought. The body is aluminum, not plastic. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it has a removable lid. If this drive would use one cover less, i.e. one slider, the design would be ideal.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Not the best

You need competition. This is a solid drive.

You need some competition. It's a solid drive that has outlived the only alternative I've found. 3 of the cheaper alternatives have failed in the socket while this more expensive product keeps chugging on. It said; For the price, read/write speeds are slow and capacity is limited. In bulk, a small read-only DIP switch costs only pennies, so Kanguru rakes in the bucks here.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • So far so good

Write protect switch may move unintentionally

Update: Ordered a second one because the first one does the job. The write-protect switch moves so easily that I don't trust it myself; There's no latch, the switch doesn't need to be pressed, and it's not countersunk. I flipped the switch slightly by pressing it with the edge of a piece of printer paper. I wrapped tape around the hard drive to prevent the switch from accidentally going into read/write mode. However, the write-protect mode prevents writing to the disc.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine
