💦 Optimized Flush Valve Seat Disc - Fluidmaster 5103 Review

Doesn't really fit old American standard screw-in toilets because the adjusting screw isn't long enough or the included brass damper post doesn't work, especially when pushed all the way in . The disc may be sealed, but it sits at an angle. The Fluidmaster website shows this on a different drive with a different screw arrangement.

This product took just over 2 weeks to finally settle and stop dripping. At first I thought it was set too tight, then not tight enough until I just left it tight and within a little over 2 weeks the slow dripping it had was gone on its own. And now it works fine. Incidentally, this Fluidmaster flush valve disc is a perfect match for the American Standard 4049 flip-top flush valve from the 1960's which had the same size and style black seat disc.

I had an old (circa 1960's) US Standard F-4049 toilet that needed a valve replacement. I replaced it with this one and while that solved the leak/fill issue somewhat, it still leaks no matter what. I even cleaned the (bottom) surface with mineral spirits to remove any oily residue that might interfere with the tight fit, but to no avail. I then ordered the original spare part elsewhere. It was double the price (shipping included) but now I don't have Phantom refills all the time. YMMV.

Great price, hope the red rubber doesn't degrade like the black rubber. When used with an AMERICAN STANDARD #4 FLUSH VALVE it bolts on, this flap also wobbles slightly and is not attached to the assembly. After the brass thread adapter is inserted into the damper, take a utility knife and cut the rubber tab so the bolt is exposed and the rubber tab is not in contact with the lever bracket that holds the damper. follow-up review; After my conversion, the device is perfectly sealed. great…

This valve seat stops ghost flushing on a 30 year old US 4049 (at least that's what happened to me). I had a latch although it took a lot more effort to remove the old part than I thought it has worn badly and the rubber has lost all of its ductility. Use caution but force when removing the old valve seat washer. I turned mine counterclockwise for a while, thinking it must have been a screw, before realizing it was taking a lot of effort to pull the old one out. Much luck! No more ghost flushes

This Fluidmaster replacement disc worked great and solved the 'ghost flush' problem. I replaced the original very old American standard black rubber washer, therefore, in addition to the "ghost flush" problem, I always had black spots on the inside of the toilet within a very short time of cleaning. The source of those black spots was a decomposed black rubber disc, and now they're gone too. Hopefully this red rubber washer will hold up better overall than the black rubber washer. The price was
