You can code in C++, Python or Fortran 90/95 using all of their powerful libraries like openCV for image processing. The compiler is relatively easy once you figure out how it works (the docs are not very helpful). All three languages have quirks so if your looking at learning one language then stick with python as its more straight forward than cpp which takes some time getting used too!
