Franklin Sports USA Pickleball Set - Activator - Wooden Paddle and Ball Kit - USAPA Approved Pickleball Equipment with Pickleballs Review

Played at a family party recently so we decided to buy one for ourselves when we got home came. I ordered 2 of this set (4 paddles) and during our third game one of the handles broke. They appear to be made from 3/8" plies which should be strong enough (for the price) but for some unknown reason a hole was drilled in the grip just below the paddle - this is where it broke. It's not worth repairing, I ordered a different brand to replace the defective one. The balls supplied are fine.

This racquet was great for pickleball without a major investment in equipment, but after just a few plays both of my racquets broke inside the wrapped part where the handle attaches to the head like others have taken photos. Although I haven't unpacked mine, they are either completely detached or badly damaged inside. They never fell to the ground or faced unexpected contact other than normal play. I bought them at the same time with 2 other friends and out of the 6 reference blades at least 4…

Update: I originally only gave this 3 stars because a handle broke after just a month of use. I'm increasing it to 4 stars because I contacted Franklin (manufacturer) and told them about my problem. They immediately sent me a replacement pen for free! Such great customer service deserves an extra star in my book. I also really liked the feel of the handle - it didn't slip even though I was holding it with a sweaty hand, and I felt very comfortable holding it in my hand. My original review…
