Bit #85-227 features non-marring synthetic bearing to protect finished edges. Spiral flush trim bits deliver very fast, clean cuts in thick tops. Cuts all solid surface materials. Use in hand-held portable routers.
Not much to discuss here. Simply clip the ruler under the board and cut. Make sure you try to only cut about 1/8th of the material at a time. Also, do not use it without the guide piece. The racquet is too long and dangles without anything to stabilize the tip.
What makes this type of flush cutter so much better is the safety and quality of the cut. Security is a huge bonus, as there's far less chance of someone snagging your project and messing with it (or worse, sticking your hand in a tool!). Cuts very slowly, gently and cleanly. I feel like an idiot for not switching to this type of template sooner. I use it to cut 1.75" maple on a router table with a jig that glues and screws onto the material. I work a lot with wood for products with curved or other non-straight sides. For these items, I often make a pattern out of MDF by cutting and sanding it on a band saw or using other methods. I then cut the actual piece of wood into shape on a band saw and then attached the template to the piece of wood. Finishing is done on the router table with a flush cutter.
