Impressive performance

I like the aviation skills of this watch. I'm not a watch enthusiast, but this watch has become a part of me. The sports functions give me the opportunity to track my physical condition and become more aware of it. I only gave this watch 4 stars because it doesn't have Strava on it. I assumed it was an aviation/SPORT watch. I look forward to upgrading this rating to 5 stars once Strava is available for this watch. Thanks Garmin for another quality product.

  • Not the best

No Garmin support.

Great watch but if you use it with a Garmin Pilot you might be disappointed. My D2 works great with several other Garmin apps as a pilot, which is why I wanted the watch to come from there. "Support" Garmin, and I can't overdo it, doesn't exist. Although it contains Zulu time and weather information for my favorite airport, I've resigned myself to using it for other non-aviation functions. If it wasn't a gift I would send it back immediately. This situation made me reconsider any avionics…

Great when I fixed the GPS

As many reviewers have said, the GPS does not work immediately after installation. Called customer service and they didn't help and didn't seem to care that I was planning to return the watch. Here's how I fixed the GPS: 1) Press and hold the bottom button 2) The menu appears 3) Scroll to Settings, Aviation, METAR location 4) Select Next, wait for the GPS list to appear , and select a location near you. I'm glad I got it fixed because otherwise I really like the watch. Aside from being…

Not worth the price or time

Not worth the time or money for this watch. I got this watch because I'm a pilot and thought it must be Garmin, they know what they're doing. This clock is very difficult to use. But let's dispense with that, how about if it connects properly and gives me the aeronautical data that I should have that I configured. He didn't show me my favorite metta at the airport or the local weather for more than a week. I spent about 90 minutes setting it up a second time with no success. I wish I was still…

Extremely disappointed.

I agree with some of the previous reviewers here and I hope Garmin is listening. The main pull functions of Metar and TAF on the watch face only work when connected to your phone (no data is pulled from Wi-Fi). - Pulse Ox is impossible to get readings without standing perfectly still for 2-3 minutes and even then it fails in most cases - GPS is almost useless most of the time as you need a completely open sky (my phone -GPS is much better) - no moving GPS maps - the clock dims at night to the…

Weak GPS receiver, nice watch.

I really wanted to like this watch but sent it back. This is a beautiful watch with a great screen. I'm an airline pilot and used it for four days while traveling. During this time I found the GPS unreliable even when connected to the Connectivity app as well as the Garmin Pilot app (it comes with a 3 month trial of Garmin Pilot). Also, you need a workaround if you want to use the watch on both iPad and iPhone. That includes turning off Bluetooth for one or the other. Most of the time, when the

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • I won't say anything

As a pilot since 2004 I have been wearing another brand that is HEAVY and the E6B is unreadable in flight. But it looks cool! This watch is good with both leather and silicone straps. I prefer silicone. It looks good, the dial mimics an elegant watch and is efficient for pilots, it's light weight, not as big as previous D2s I've looked at and does exactly what I need it to do. Receiving texts, emails and other notifications on the watch with vibration is very useful. I didn't feel my phone…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • There are nuances

Garmin product shows promise but fails terribly in testing. I love Garmin products and have been looking forward to buying the D2 for years, but couldn't stand Garmin's higher prices. I liked this watch so I decided to buy it. My reasons for buying this watch were emergency and backup navigation, a backup altimeter, and a wrist-based heart rate monitor. Everything looked fine on the floor, but the first time I operated the watch, the flaws became apparent. The heart rate monitor was difficult…
