Description of πŸ’‘ Garvin CBC-800 Recessed Blank-Up Cover Plate, 8-Inch Diameter, Steel, White: Sleek and Functional Solution for Concealing Electrical Box openings

8-INCH DIAMETER: The "blank-up" plate is used to cover the exposed hole left in the ceiling by unused & abandoned 6 or 7-Inch diameter can lights. ATTRACTIVE APPEARANCE: The smooth, white powder coated finish blends with white ceiling paint for a pleasing display in any finished space. STAY SAFE: The plate covers the entire fixture hole and prevents heat loss and risk of shock if the socket is energized and open. ECONOMICALLY EFFICIENT: The tapered, 1/4” outside edge seats firmly against the ceiling surface and prevents heat loss through the fixture opening as well as insect entry. EASY-TO-INSTALL: Screw the non conductive threaded hub into the light socket, and connect the spring to the hub eyelet and then stretch and connect it to the cover plate bracket.

Great niche product

This is such a good idea. I was in the process of completing a renovation and there were glass lamps in the closets that failed the test. I bought these to cover glasses. Electricity went through the house and then I took the ceiling off and now I see what I have in my closet.

Pros
  • Beautiful
Cons

easy to install and paint

used to cover off-centre recessed fitting. It works great and will blend better as we draw it, but we've already forgotten it's there. We then used a separate kit to boost the recessed lighting and installed a traditional fixture above our kitchen table.

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Don't really like it, it's ok

Expensive but not the best way to cover old can lights

If you have an 8" lantern hole that needs covering this is really the only option. Blanket to keep it tight and make a nice cover. Appears to be of good quality. No plastic.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • It's ok

Great extra coverage for big holes

Standard 5" panels never fully cover a dirty box when installed - it worked. I didn't use springs but some neodymium magnets to hold the lid in the metal box work fine. 1 star for the price of this stupid record but I needed it so never mind.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Nothing

Garvin lid breakage

I have already ordered 2 times. For the first time it was clear that the lid had been used. It came with paint creases, scratches and stains. The lid looked fine the second time around, but I didn't have any springs or the part that screws into the socket. What's happening? For $26, that's a little ridiculous!

Pros
  • absolute legend
Cons
  • high price

Not the coolest thing I've ever ordered, but it was perfect and a lot easier than patching and painting some old can holes in my kitchen ceiling. Easy to paint (spray) and durable hardware that I couldn't find anywhere else.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others

Easy way to dim unused glass lights

In a shared hallway we left out (burned out) 2 of 3 overhead lights to save power (it's bright enough anyway) but we liked the "blown out" bulb " never "A kind of neglect. They were ideal for closing them up much cleaner without having to pay an electrician to actually remove them and then fix the drywall. VERY easy to install. But the price is too high considering they contain nothing but a piece of steel plate, a spring and a rubber bushing.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous
