Enhanced GE FXSVC Drinking Water Filtration Replacement Review

Larger diameter filter than previous years; the product is currently not suitable for my system. I've been buying the same item from AMAZON for years and now this is a different part? Ridiculous!

Good filter product but a plastic sleeve on each cartridge is badly torn. I peeled off the fragments and it looks like the seal should be fine. They seem to be working. I would recommend using better packaging, it arrived in a plastic envelope which obviously exposed the product to rough handling.

1st photo no longer fits. has an NSF label, the new product on the right does not. As a result, they ripped off $45 for a product that doesn't fit, of dubious quality. I hope you bankrupt GE after this fiasco!

I've been using this filtration system for many years, it's built into the hoses that go to my ice maker and bar faucet (for drinking water). It removes impurities really well - the water tastes clean and refreshing, and the coffee tastes noticeably better. I have reduced my water consumption at home. The package says to change the filters every 6 months but I drove longer.

These filters fit perfectly and are easy to replace. The instructions were a little confusing as to which filter to put in first. Specifying 1st and 2nd would be better than specifying right and left in my opinion, since right/left depends on how it's set, and the color-coding of the filters just adds to the confusion. Labeling the filter function would be better. But is it a manufacturer's problem, not a retailer's? Figuring out which filter to put in first took longer than installing.

We still think they're pretty pricey, but regular filters just don't do the job, so I'd say they're worth it. Other filters had the advantage of reducing water consumption much less. Defect? Well they didn't work (for me). Our tap water has what I would call the taste of old pipes. There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the installation instructions for GE's FXSCV two-stage water filter kit. Here are my findings. Instructions: GE clearly indicates filter installation with a green cap on the left (inlet) side. see drawing.
