GE Lighting 97785 50/100/150-Watt A21 3-Way Reveal Light Bulb: Enhanced Illumination for Versatile Lighting Needs Review

I ordered this lamp especially for the 3-way function. It appears to be a 3 way lightbulb but it just doesn't work as one. It only turns on and off, not via the three brightness options. I have several 3-way lightbulbs and other lightbulbs that work, so I know it's not a lightbulb and I know how it's supposed to work. I must have just received a defective one.

This is my first time buying a lightbulb online and I can't believe I received it safe and sound. I shook it as soon as I got it and silence. "Yes, not broken"! I'm so happy! Great clear lighting, not that creepy old lighting or fake weird neon lighting. Great bulb for a three way lamp.

I am very disappointed with the short lifespan of this bulb. It only lasted about 10 weeks. They claim 1500 hours of lifespan, which is pretty bad in itself. But I'm guessing we only have about 500 hours. Definitely not worth the relatively high price. I think it's called "Reveal" because it revealed my stupidity for paying that much for a low quality bulb.

Revealing lamps do what they're supposed to; the light they produce is much less yellowish. They last about as long as you would expect from a regular lightbulb, but they're a bit overpriced. At Walmart, these bulbs cost almost $8. It's a luxury, but if you prefer a less yellowish light I think they're worth a few bucks more considering you only need to replace them once or twice a year depending on how often you use them use. .

Looks good to me and works well. I wasn't looking for a specific type of light. I use them throughout my apartment with a 3-strip floor lamp that I also bought from Amazon (Normande Lighting JS1-161 71-1/4-inch 150-watt incandescent Torchiere floor lamp) and have had no problems. I've been using it for more than a year, every day, it hasn't blown. My apartment is small, so my electricity bill doesn't get out of hand - I don't know how much these lightbulbs affect that.

I ordered them online because I can't find that specific type locally. I read some reviews about disappointing lamp life and some not working properly but ordered anyway hoping for the best. I have bought Reveal GE 50, 100, 150,- 3 times in the past and they have lasted over 6 months with regular use which is very good. I have just purchased 2 more of these Reveal bulbs and have to say I was surprised the first one died after 6 days. And it should get brighter with each click on my lamp 50, 100, 150, but that's just on/off. Revain replaces the 2nd Reveal bulb.
