The adhesive is pretty bad it fell off my cupboards right away but I used the staples that were provided and they work great. I suspect the glue will work well on a smooth surface but overall they are great and I love the different colors, effects and scenes. It's also about $100 cheaper than the Hue alternative, so it's worth buying.

I really liked this product until I got home a few days after installing it and found the strips had completely detached from the wall. After reinstalling with tape, they fell off more than 5 times. useless if you ask me. I bought these to light up my dark closet space. The concept is good but very awkward to use with corners or 90 degree angles. Would have given 4 stars (agree install and app is a bit mixed) if they had stuck to my damn wall.

Don't do it. Just spend the extra $10 and get a better set. I would even recommend a strip of overpriced shades at the moment. Worked well for a week. Suddenly the clear white lights didn't go out. Being a nerd, I ripped the wiring, cut a piece off the strip, tested it from both ends, etc., no dice. Still pure white. I checked the solder on the board, clean there. I bought three of these and the controller is defective because the connector pins are bent and snapping due to a bad connection, or in the case of the third one I bought - which I have only bought it to get a new controller to replace the broken one as i haven't seen them sold separately - the controller broke before i connected it.
