Decent 2.5 " to 3.5 " adapter

I replaced the WD SATA drive with a 2.5" SSD as the boot drive. However, I still had an existing 3.5" drive just below the boot drive, meaning cable routing would be an issue, especially if the back of the SSD was an inch in. This stand ensures the back of the drives will line up with whatever is present. This can be an issue with SATA cables that have a 90° load with the cable facing down. When installing a 2.5 hard drive, the connector bends slightly; Time will tell if this affects…

  • Great for a small home

Cannot recommend this adapter!

Looks and feels good until you plug in a SATA cable and power cable. The connector is poorly supported so when connecting the SATA connector and power the end connector moves up or down slightly depending on how you applied force when inserting the connectors. The connector moved slightly on my device and quickly curled up using minimal force to connect the cable connectors. If I look closely at the connector, I see that it has no support other than metal solder joints. Not recommended.

Pros
  • Great Choices
Cons
  • Sad Hardware

Works great for what I need it for (converting a 2.5" SATA SSD to a 3.5" SATA hard drive bay for an OEM desktop). Material/build quality seemed sufficiently durable. The screws are a bit difficult to get into the SSD from the sides because there isn't much room to maneuver your thumbs in to get them into the holes and the screws themselves didn't fit in the SSD (they were too thick ). . Luckily I had a few screws left over from the last adapter I bought that didn't work due to the size and fit.

  • Good Price

High quality media that meets Intel/HP/Dell specs

This is a very good drive media with excellent build quality that conforms to OEM (Intel, HP or Dell) and specifications. In a study of server drive carriers, OEM branded 2.5 to 3.5 drive carriers cost at least $40 and sell for double that. It's as good as these parts in every way. Most Revain products like this one, which only costs $11, are flimsy and cheap and can be bent with your bare hands. Not this article. He has weight!

  • Good stuff

  • Not the best

They were perfect for assembly. 1

There are many reviews here but none of them deal with usage. They were perfect for installing 1.8" SSDs with standard SATA connectors in 5.25" cases for my Supermicro server. I am ordering another pair for some of the Norco hot swap trays on my file server, they will work fine. The SSD connects securely to the internal connector - no screws required, the external connector is perfect for the back panel. They come with screws, but not the type you need for hot-swap bays that require…

Top quality metal construction, not sure about longevity of connector

The metal bracket on this adapter is top quality - strong, well made and precise. The drive bay slot is correctly offset for removable drives. However, I agree with other reviewers that the SATA connector board could be better. The main problem is that the SATA connector that fits into the drive bay is loose and wobbly on the edge of the board. It appears that the connector's solder joints fail after a few insertion/removal cycles due to mechanical force. I haven't had any crashes to be honest,

  • Very expensive

A very economical solution that works

I bought this cart to install an SSD in my Asus Vivo VM42 Mini PC. This is ideal as it is in the same form factor as the standard 3.5" hard drive that comes with the PC and you can simply snap the new SSD into the case via the caddy connector. Mounting hardware comes with the caddy and its outer frame accepts the same coarse thread screws as standard HDDs, while the inner frame uses M3 fine thread screws for SSDs. This is a plus in my application because I reused coarse thread mounting bushings

Pros
  • Computer accessories and peripherals
Cons
  • Everything is fine
