GE WB02X10956 Authentic OEM Charcoal Filter for GE Microwave Ovens Review

I bought this filter to replace my GE microwave oven. Even though it was cheaper (about $10) it said it was an OEM part so I moved on. Well you get what you pay for. The black filter was so thin you could see through it. I went straight to the GE equipment website and bought a filter there (about $18) and it was exactly the same as the original filter. The photo shows two new filters side by side for comparison. So this one is cheaper but definitely lower quality.

Firstly, the item was sent in a lightly padded envelope and received bent (see photo). I was able to bend it back into the right shape and everything seems fine. I have a 6 month old model PVM9215SK3SS GE microwave. A few days ago the filter change light came on. I bought a couple of these carbon filters, one to replace my current filter now and another for next time. I pulled out the old filter and compared it to the new one. On the old filter, the activated carbon material is thick and completely opaque, but on the new filter, the material is thin enough that I can easily see through it.
