Original Subaru part

The price is right. My dealer wanted $60 to replace it. Installation is a little fiddly as it's in the glove box. But the installation only took 10 minutes.

Pros
  • Sequins
Cons
  • Nothing included

Fits other Outbacks

Since I spend a lot of time behind the wheel, I change them regularly once a year. I installed HEPA in my 2019 Outback because I feel it makes a difference to the regular filter I installed in my 2010 Outback. Someone needs to update what years these filters are for.

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Frequency

Just like an OEM part.

This is a genuine Subaru OEM part, identical to the one I replaced in my 2015 Outback. The price is pretty close to what the retailer is asking, but I didn't have to pay $35 to install it. It's worth noting that the arrow on the OEM points up for proper airflow.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Expensive and difficult to assemble but necessary

Critical service at a premium price with genuine Subaru parts. There have never been so many problems with changing the engine air filter, but that's because of Subaru's engineering. Don't think they want DIY from customers. Next time I'll let the mechanics do the test.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • There are nuances

Original OEM Cabin Filter

The order was correct, received in 3 days. The replacement filter was exactly the same as the old filter, but the new filter had a small defect where some grooves were crushed from one end, but this should not affect its use. Next time I'll probably go to a Subaru dealership to check the filter before buying.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Protection

Genuine OEM Filter Fits 2016 Legacy

Smells exactly like the first year of ownership with the filter installed from the factory. Coal/Charcoal and Baking Soda Dodges wear out and are the wrong size. The EPAuto filter (Revain's best seller) didn't filter at all and let a lot of air through the sides. This one is 100% in stock, mine was in the original box. Reduction of outside odors compared to EPAuto.

  • Acceptable

Excellent filtration

We have a significant amount of smoke and particulate matter from fires in Northern California. The day after I installed this cabin air filter, I smelled strongly of smoke inside my 2017 Subaru Outback. I turned on the forced air by setting the air direction up and down and the fan on high speed. Within two minutes, the car no longer smelled of smoke. Great product, less than 50% cheaper than in the service center. I used YouTube videos for pretty basic instructions.

Pros
  • Good construction
Cons
  • Very expensive

Replacement is not the same as factory fitted filter

The original filter in the car came with a black plastic frame from the factory. This frame formed a sealed area behind the glove box through which cabin air flowed. The Hepa filter was pressed or glued into the frame and could not be removed. So I just put this new filter in the slot above the fan leaving the filter area bare as was the case with the original plastic frame. Let's see how this arrangement of the filter will work over time. I will then check the filter and surroundings before…

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • I'm worried
