I'll start by saying that I had a very positive experience with my old GHD which I later passed on to my sister and had to buy this new one. I know I bought a quality product, so I was willing to pay more (significantly more considering some straighteners sell for a few tens of dollars), but even then I wanted to spend a few months before I actually considering this product. I've been looking for a straightening iron for a long time. I cut my hair short and needed one that would fit my needs perfectly. I read many reviews and this one won. It heats up quickly and if I forget to turn it off, it turns itself off. And I have a guarantee that I normally never do.

When I bought this straightener from Revain rather than direct from GHD I was concerned about the authenticity of the product. On arrival I tried to register it on the GHD website but the codes "didn't match" the GHD authenticator so I returned the item and ordered directly from GHD. As a side note, I found a 20% discount on GHD online and ended up spending over $20 less on GHD than Revain!

I have both CHI and FHI irons, I prefer GHD. The heat-up time is incredibly fast. It emits an audible signal to indicate that power has been reached and operating temperature has been reached. A good cover to put away when it's hot. It was a great tool.

I don't know why this straightener got such bad reviews. I have now bought two and have had no problems with either. I was very skeptical about the purchase based on the reviews so I made sure to buy the warranty that Revain offers but I didn't have to use it. I have bangs and can't live without a 1/2 inch flat iron to make them as straight as possible. I would not recommend this flat iron if you want medium to long hair. For my shoulder length bob and bangs, this works like a charm!
