I used this to weld the plastic panel on my GMC Suburban. I also used plastic sticks to secure the dashboard. It was easy to use and I only managed to burn myself a little. I'm not sure how well the plastic will hold up in the desert heat, but this handy tool worked non-stop for over 6 hours and melted the plastic like butter!

I liked the design and the price when I first bought it, but this item is junk. I've been using commercial welders at work and needed something for a few cracks in my HDPE canoe. This lasted 30 minutes before the triangular head came off. I had to finish the top hat project! I will say that it warmed up to the right temperature. But after about 10 minutes of use, the tip started to bend. I am not sure if this product is suitable for anything more than small tacking.

Used this item to try and fix a large water tank. After reading the instructions and watching a few videos, I patched the tear. This worked great for the first pass, but after the iron cooled down and came back later. I heated up the iron and started to work, but the tip broke off right in the appliance. Good for kayak welding, but the material loosens when hot, so don't press too hard during use, the "iron" part of the welder will bend back and the metal begins to separate. I expect it to only last a few long uses before failing (breaks). You don't have to press hard on most of the weld, but smoothing the edges at the end definitely helps. I should have gotten one of those plastic welders years ago. I have tried countless times to glue broken plastic together without success. This welder really works. The included stainless steel mesh allows you to reinforce the repair by making it stronger than it was originally. Parts I used to break I can now fix!
