Like many others, I bought them to make my sofa higher and make room for my robot vacuum cleaner. After about a year, my couch became very wobbly. The plate's design seems to allow for a lot of lateral movement, causing the strands to eventually shear off - either at the trunk or the base plate itself. I don't recommend them unless they're installed so that the base of the legs are completely flush is to avoid excessive stress on the threads themselves.

I know they are not designed to be adjustable but they do the job perfectly. I have a platform and wanted to put my adjustable bed on the platform - my bed is not "platform compatible". I wanted to minimize the height and put the shortest legs the bed could have and give the mechanism some clearance. When I first ordered it I was a bit disappointed because one of the metal plates had no steps and couldn't be used. I received a full refund for the product and re-ordered with no problems. I followed DM Stafford's installation instructions. I used a 1/16" drill bit for the pilot hole for the 4 screws and a 5/16" bit for the mounting screw in the leg that goes into the shelf.
