Classic design, razor sharp.

A great razor sharp peeler with a classic tried and true design at a great price. This is the design you want, forget the ones you swipe across a veg with your wrist at an odd angle. The high carbon steel blade is very sharp but prone to rust, so it will dry out after use.

Pros
  • Nicely packaged
Cons
  • No machine

Rust in no time: Grater, peeler and slicer

Rust immediately. Buying because it's the same style as the paring knife I've had for over ten years and I thought it was the same quality. Clearly inferior metals were used because while my old one had lasted for years and had been badly abused, this one was too rusty to even consider touching my food for a month.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Like Grandma

Like Grandma. The VW cleaners are to blame for this style. Why change a good design when it works. I tried one of these in stainless steel but I prefer the original carbon steel even if it will rust. Keep it clean and dry after use and it should last as long as grandma :-) but if not you can always buy more

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Quality

DAUGHTER TRIES TO TAKE MY CLEANING.

Luckily my knife was in the dishwasher. My daughter was looking for one for her new home. I stopped her on the spot. She thought that a plastic pen would be easier to clean (I don't know where that idea came from). I've searched everywhere but couldn't find any for her. Revane had it and she was gifted with it and very happy.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Great if you want half of your meal to be sliced.

. The bottom of one of my old cleaners has rusted making it unusable, but all I can find commercially are garbage cleaners, which appear to be aluminum. It appears to be heavier but also has a thick disc. I just peeled carrots for lunch and there was only half a carrot left in the end. I'm hoping one of the other two I bought and am waiting for is worth it.

Pros
  • . Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • . Nothing

The blade is blunt. Nothing like the original.

Most of the kitchen utensils I've ordered recently seem to have dull blades. My favorite knife is an old-fashioned inexpensive knife. I don't like new ones. This is a potato peeler, not designer cookware. Still, I thought this knife would be similar to the ones I grew up with. nope Very blunt blades. I think I'll go to the dollar store and buy one that can actually clear.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Upgrade available

Compare Good Cook Peeler (Rusted)

A year and a half ago I bought Linden Sweden Original Jonas Peeler - Made in Sweden and Good Cook Carbon Steel Peeler at the same time. ". (I don't know where the Good Cook peeler is made.) I tried to use, wash and dry them the same way. The Linden Sweden peeler is not rusty while the Good Cook peeler is rusty I like the design of the Good Cook cleaner. I feel more comfortable in my hand. What would be so terrible if Good Cook used the same quality steel as the Linden Sweden cleaner? I continue

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Repair

Hard-to-find carbon steel peeler

About 30 years ago, I bought a plain [foreign-made] vegetable peeler with a carbon steel blade from a large store. I still have it, and while there is a bit of surface rust on the concave side of the blade, it's still nice and sharp. So I've been casually looking for another to keep to myself for the past few years, but none of the retailers I've checked stock it anymore. (Many knives made of stainless steel or with fancy plastic handles, but no carbon steel blades.) So I finally searchedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Nice appearance
Cons
  • Some flaws
