Clumsy mess, works well

This is clearly a market test, not a mature product. The actual inverter is externally identical to the 12V inverter I bought over 20 years ago. Greenwork simply hooked up a 40v battery connector and a long cable to a 40v inverter to make a cumbersome but working product. A 3 pound battery awkwardly attached to the end of the cord and disconnected from the inverter by a switch makes juggling a nightmare. A mature product has an inverter and connector in the form of an integrated assembly with a

Works with Ryobi 40V batteries! (with mods)

During the last hurricane I had 4 Ryobi 40v batteries that did nothing when the power went out. I decided to find an inverter to use these batteries next time. It turned out to be the only reasonably priced 40V DC input inverter I could find. So I destroyed the old Ryobi 40v charger and this inverter to make a Ryobi version. After a bit of dremel work and soldering I'm done and I love it. Works great and looks almost like it came from the factory. I recommend anyone with Ryobi 40v batteries to…

Stops working after a few hours

I used this inverter for a total of about 3 hours in Summer 2019 to power a fan, some portable electronics etc. By Spring 2020 it's completely dead. No light, no USB or 120V power, nothing. The battery is 100% fine (I use it all the time to mow the lawn, it showed 4 bulbs). GreenWorks refused my warranty claim because while their website says *all* of their tools and accessories come with a 3 year warranty, this one item seems to only have a 1 year warranty, which is rubbish in my opinion…

Great product with endless possibilities

I used it last night to power a TV on my porch and it lasted 4 hours on a 4ah battery and it has about one Hour lasted at the bar so 4 hours of TV use per battery. It was an old 36 inch LCD TV so I think something newer would be better. A cool trick is to use a corded drill or an old power tool that can be made mobile. I've been working with an impact gun and perforator for several hours with no problems. I drilled 5 screws and several holes with a hammer drill without lowering the battery.

  • Definitely a bad product

I have been waiting for this product for many years.

This is the product I've been waiting for for years and luckily I already have plenty of 40VG MAX Greenworks batteries. Until now, only heavy and expensive devices with built-in batteries have been available for portable inverters. The runtime of this device is only limited by the number of batteries you have, and it's small and light, making it easy to throw in your backpack when traveling or hiking. It feels solid, is fan-cooled and has crash protection. I've only used the USB outputs so far,

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Not sure

I bought this due to a power outage in the area. I found this to be the perfect fit as it uses the same battery as some of my gardening tools. I connected the battery and turned it on to make sure it was actually on. Less than a week later. BOOM. Power failure. Grabbed the inverter battery and lamp. The lamp never lit, but there were some interesting smells. I turned everything off in a panic and decided to email customer service once the power came back. Mind you, this all happened in the…

Also fits Ryobi (with some tweaks)

I used this to make my own version of the Ryobi 300w 40v inverter Ryobi sells their own but I bought 3 and returned them within 2 weeks . Everything went wrong, one of them almost caught fire, ha! Oops! The Greenworks inverter uses only 2 wires on the plug. positive and negative. No smarts to connect to the battery. So give it 40V and it just works. I cut off the Greenworks connector, plugged in the Ryobi connector and blamo! Ryobi Inverter! What makes it really safe is that Ryobis batteries…

Electronics melt and smoke

My thoughts on this product are torn. On the one hand, it's good to know that my always-charged Greenworks batteries can be used as a backup power source when needed. This is why it is a great product because it makes expensive batteries more useful. The problem is that this inverter caused one of the devices I had connected to it to melt and smoke. I had a power outage so I chose this inverter. to power my home network router and internet cable modem so I can stay online on my laptop. I…
