I have tested this instrument with four other angle measuring devices. The deviation is about 3 degrees. Maybe not much, but enough to really confuse you when your design goes into production!

If you are looking for a centering finder for small round or square parts, get one of these! / 4" x 3/4" hardwood end. This thing took away all the pain of fast and accurate center marking!

I used it to mark the center of the dowel pieces and it worked as expected. I like the small size because I can easily hold it with one hand and it doesn't slip off. However, I wish it had come with a hard case so it's not hanging around in my toolbox.

That would be the perfect size, but I did NOT have a true 90 degrees so it wasn't worth the headache of finding the center line, especially for filming. My 2 plastic center viewfinders (6 inches) are accurate, but I wanted something I could put in my shirt pocket. I am really disappointed. Probably still works for round stocks, but bad for square stocks.

Upon opening the box I found that the unit was well lubricated and packed. After cleaning, I used my machinist's 45 degree gauge and checked the angles. PERFECT! I couldn't fit a .0005 caliber between the flats. I really liked the heavy back plate and it was easy to use against a 2" round steel bar which I marked dead center on my lathe. This device was absolutely accurate! Very solid device, very accurate and pleasant to use. . Thanks very much!
