Good book for a new guinea pig owner

I bought this book for my 5 year old granddaughter when she got her new guinea pig, Coconut. We read the chapter headings together and looked at the photos, and then she chose topics for me to read to her in more detail. It contains useful information on feeding and care. We especially enjoyed the section on teaching guinea pig tricks!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

Nice to have but not required

This book is nice to have and read, but if you have an internet connection you will find everything in this book. So it's nice to have, but you don't really need it. Given that the information is available on the web, this book should be a lot cheaper than what I paid for. I'm paying to consolidate knowledge into a book, but even that seems to be missing something.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Guinea Pigs (APL Pet Care Library)

I received this book from the library after getting a guinea pig. I liked it so much that I decided to buy it. It's very informative and detailed. For example; Guinea pigs are not pigs and do not come from the pig family. You are Cavey. (The Cave - uh.) This book only got four stars because it was missing what I felt was an important piece of information: how to sex your guinea pig. All the books I have read about guinea pigs recommend keeping at least TWO guinea pigs as they are social…

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Available in Black Only
