🧼 Gulfstream Tropical AGU125MED Glass Cleaner for Mag-Float Aquarium, Medium Size Review

I have a Mag Float that is over 8 years old and it still works. However when I saw this one I thought it could only get better and if the 8 year old was as good the new one would be amazing. Boy was I wrong. The magnet isn't even remotely strong so it keeps falling apart and there's no power left to clean the glass. It's bulky, lightweight, and currently useless. I'm sending it back and keeping the old one. A shame.

I really liked this item for about a week, it made cleaning the glass of my 75 gallon aquarium easier until I noticed it was scratching my glass I took it out and checked it to see if there was gravel or sand stuck to the side of the cleaning pad and nothing, it was as clean as it came out of the box. So I don't trust these types of products anymore, now I will wet my hand/arm and use an algae cleaning pad that I have used in the past and it has never scratched my glass.

I use them on both QT and DT and they work great. I also bought scraper blades to use with the float. The product usually cleans the glass on the first pass unless I scrape off coralline algae in which case it may take 2 or 3. The only recommendation I can give is to make sure the backing pad doesn't get stuck under the internal float otherwise it could scratch the glass as its magnetic force is strong. Also, I wouldn't leave the float in the tank anymore, as I've found that algae grows on it…

I have it on a 54 corner tank. It does its job with dust algae, but anything harder just stays there. And even getting rid of soft algae will take a long time. Large size causes a tsunami in the tank, you move a little faster. Year if you trust your wrist, the two sides part. So you have to be careful anyway that it stays very parallel to the glass.
