Four quality pieces

Expected only three small items for this price but got one large, one medium and two smaller ones instead. All are very typical. The little ones have gone to the flower vase for some aquascaping, but I haven't decided what to do with the two big ones yet. They need to be cooked for a long time to remove the tannins, but since I don't put the fish in my flower vase, a little dark coloring in the water is fine. Once I've changed the water sufficiently, it should become clear.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Mediocre

Expensive but beautiful aquarium sticks.

Quite expensive for a couple of sticks but they fit my aquarium. I actually tied the two pieces together to make a longer stick. Boiled them out of tannins for over 8 hours but the tank was still turning brown. THIS IS NOT HARMFUL, so don't be alarmed. I replaced the charcoal bag in my filter and put in a purine bag, wow the tank was clean in a day. The sticks look fantastic which is why they get 5 stars. I think they should be a lot cheaper.

  • Free for educational purposes

NOT for aquariums. - Fish and aquatic animals

These wood pieces must have come from the rare and elusive 'tannin wood' as no cooking will wash away the tannins. After 30+ hours (with water changes every few hours) the wood was still bleeding. not just a little. but much. We're not talking about tea here, we're talking about the color of the black coffee "kick-in-the-stout-pants". No amount of charcoal in the filter could have eliminated this leaching. (I doubt the oyster bed could even lighten the color.) If the company advertises them…

Not quite driftwood

The pieces I received are not exactly driftwood. They are natural wood but they are from the roots. I only received one piece which was a decent size, the other two are very small. I didn't cook it as I don't use them for pets or aquariums. I was disappointed as the title says they are big when they really aren't. My photos show all three and I've added measurements (sorry if they're out of order, but for some reason they came in like this and it didn't let me rearrange). In a photo you can see

Beautiful driftwood!

I bought this driftwood to set up a new aquarium and I love the details. They arrived quickly and look great in my newly planted tank. To remove the tannins I boiled them for a total of about 4 hours - I started with clean water each time the boiled water turned dark and probably did this 4 times during the process. After the final boil, I changed the water one last time and let the pieces soak for a few days. This also helps keep the pieces from sinking and not floating when you're ready to…

  • Enjoyable

  • Good but not great

Great price and selection

Well I just got it but as soon as I opened the box I fell in love. There are 3 good wooden PCs. They can be stacked on top of each other or glued together. You are like a puzzle. The PCs were well chosen. Boiled for 1 hour, changing the water by half. I then drained the water and left them in a pot (with fresh cold tap water) overnight. It wasn't as dark as morning tea! But still a bit toned. I boiled the wood for the second time and repeated! Water first when cooking again? It's dark as tea…

Pros
  • Easy to use

  • Short instructions

Great value for money got exactly what I wanted

I received 3 small pieces of driftwood which when put together were the perfect size for my 5 gallon tank. Here's the process I used to make it: To get lots of tannins, I boiled wood for a week and changed the water 5-8 times a day. (Pro Tip) I used baking soda for the first few days, it helps a lot in releasing more tannins. **Disclaimer: You can never extract ALL the tannins. I highly recommend using Seachem Purigen in your filter if you want crystal clear water. I'm just worried about thin…
