I used this relay to turn on a 12vdc light on my boat lift. The relay is small, has both normally closed and normally open contacts, has a mounting bracket, and is inexpensive. This relay can be used for ANY project that requires a 12V DC coil and can switch up to 40A DC! Good product.

This combo kit works perfectly. You will receive a relay and waterproof wire harness with a surface mount bracket. I searched for a long time before I came across them. Connect the wire harness, install it in a suitable place and connect the relay. It couldn't be made easier or better.

I used this to plug a replacement fuse box into my 71 Super Beetle, I didn't want to add any extra load to the original fuse box so I plugged it in with battery power, and it runs from a sheet fed from the fuse box. I haven't had any problems, but I only use the relay to power simple things like a low power radio and a couple of interior light bulbs. However, I think that external light will not be a problem. The included plug fits securely and provides more confidence.

My project is not finished yet so I tested them on the workbench. Both work as they should with advertised lead sensors. I activated one of these for over 2 hours and it felt a little warm so it looks like they really have 100% duty cycle. The stud mount is a bit odd as it attaches to the relay instead of the socket. The relays appear to be sealed so may actually be watertight, but there isn't even a cover for the sockets so nothing there is protected from a short circuit. Good price…
