Purchased to dress chickens. Much too large, the long arc blade is harzardous to use for "detail" work like chickens. Did not fit my hand at ALL, so as far as I am concerned, not ergonomic. Might be okay for large game, but we do small game. Tried to return, but the only option I was offered was to deliver it to a UPS store. Ok so this is my second knife by this brand because I really like the durable handles that can handle a little moisture. I was originally disappointed because although the name sounds Japanese, these are made in China. Having lived in Japan I'm aware of the long history of sword-making and quality knives.Do not gift this to a person who is from Japan. It will send a message you want to sever the relationship. Unless that's what you want to do.I wish you could buy them in a full set.

Received my cleaver a few days ago. Opened it up to find that there’s a huge gap between one side of the handle and the tang. About an inch in length and a big enough gap you can see through it to the other side of the handle.Knife is also very very dull. Won’t cut paper or the hair off my arm. Love the size, weight and shape! Blade came already sharp (which is good because I don’t know how to sharpen it). We use this now for cutting everything. The only other knife you need in your house is a butter knife. I definitely do not recommend this knife to spread butter on your toast!

The knife is as described on the Walmart web page. Feels nice to hold and is very sharp. Being new it has not had much use yet, I expect it will need occasional sharpening. This is not a dishwasher safe product, as with all high-carbon steel knives you need to hand wash it and dry it. An occasional coating of the handle with cooking oil will keep it looking nice.

You may want to get a whetstone, the very tip is bent on arrival and catches on things, but if you sharpen it down it's fine. Overall a nice blade, I wouldnt use it to butcher anything with hard bones though.

Very heavy and first time using it almost cut off finger. Went almost to bone because it was in dish pan and I didn't see it standing up. To sharp for elderly and too heavy!

Rust formation on upper blade after first wash. Otherwise, ergonomic and good balance while chopping and slicing. The knife may not be suitable for left-handed users.

Metal in knife handle was wider than the wooded grips therefore leaving a sharp edge.Walmart did however refund my money when I told them of the defect, that could cause a tear in skin when gripping knife

Well balanced for a knife of this style. I love cutting with it. I'm trying to increase my knives to the highest quality at the least price and this hits the spot. Excellent product.

Really nice knife, the handle is so pretty. It is sharp, well balanced, has good weight to it and was beautifully packaged. As you can see in the video it slices and dices a tomato (the ultimate knife test) with ease! Highly recommend it!

HOLY SMOKES this knife is sharp. Great for slicing and chopping. Very happy with it and glad I bought it. I ordered mine with the lighter in color wood handle and it looks great. It took a few uses to get use to it, but now it's my go to knife.Just be careful with it. Like a good knife should be.It's VERY SHARP!
