This is such a fun article. My son loves this. He lost his first so this is the second purchase for him since he was so upset. The quality is good, the box is very strong. This is entertainment for pirates.

I wanted to like it (and my 5 year old certainly did) but the largest lens was broken. sent back. Although the replacement was packaged very well, it also arrived broken. I assume that's the glue they use? There are many versions of this product, so choose something other than 9" brass.

Even at $10, I think this toy is expensive. It looks more like a costume prop than a toy. When you look into the lens, things appear very small. I gave 2 of my sons away for Christmas and one broke immediately when the lens fell off! In other words, we haven't used any of these yet because they broke when we received them. Didn't even take 3 minutes.

Impressed because it's scary to buy over the internet. I'm so happy (as a mom I got this) all of a sudden my son said he wanted this, I ordered it and I'm happy with it. The box it comes in is beautiful, to be honest even more than I expected! The scope slides in and out, it really magnifies, we just got it, it's going to be a stocking, but it's worth just trying! In addition, you can leave a thick wooden box to store other treasures!
