Amazing product, best in category Colors

I work in mixed media and have purchased this product and other Encaustic colors many times. Always stable and reliable results. This company produces top-of-the-line products. Fast delivery and as described.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Volume

I love this R&F product

I love this R&F product. When ordering a 2 lb bag there is a $4 difference making it a better deal but when I ordered the larger bag it opened up in the shipping swamp and the wax pellets were everywhere!

Pros
  • Glitter
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Too expensive for the small amount you get.

I wasn't prepared for how small the bag must be, I know it says Β£1 but it was still a shock that I spent so much for so little have. This is a great product, the price is ridiculous, it's time to learn how to make it yourself.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Superior Wax Resin Blend

I love this Encaustic product. It melts well and has a wonderful smell. I considered making my own but between the cost of beeswax and the cost and labor of grinding the resin it didn't make sense to me and that way I didn't feel like saving money! I love that I can just pour it right out of the bag!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Nothing

Great product from the leader in encaustics

I attended a workshop with an R&F artist and got the opportunity to use all of their products. You can mix your own, but I didn't want to bother with that - so it's very easy. Small pockets are easy to store. They're expensive, but you pay for convenience. I have found the R&F finish to be harder than the Evans finish and each has its own benefits.

Pros
  • TIPS FOR SAFE USE: Do not heat above 200 degrees Fahrenheit; Wax emits toxic fumes when heated above its decomposition temperature; Use with ventilation
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Great but better value in bulk

Great product. Good hardness. If you're experimenting, this is the normal size. But if you are an encaustic artist or plan to use a lot, buy a larger size and save some money. It's expensive in the smaller size but much more affordable in the larger sizes and makes the prospect of making your own media much less appealing.

Pros
  • PERFECT ENCAUSTIC MEDIUM - perfect for mixed media and sculptural applications
Cons
  • I will write back

Wax melts in heat

I love R&F Encaustic materials. But they cannot control the different temperatures their products are exposed to during transit. This form of granules is convenient in that it's easy to pour the exact amount you need. In warm environments, however, it can soften and stick to itself, so it can feel like a solid block. I've found that if I put the bag in a plastic container (I buy large plastic containers with large screw tops at WallyWorld) and then put it in the freezer until frozen, it becomes

Pros
  • MADE IN USA
Cons
  • High Price
