However, the price tag may be a bit steep for some users. Pros: Easy to use, accurate measurements, high-quality construction. Cons: Expensive.
Pros
Accurate and precise measurements can be achieved with the HHIP 3900 2605 Precision Sine Opening.
Cons
Requires additional tools to fully utilize its potential, which can increase the cost of use.
I bought a 3 inch vise. In general everything is fine. A few things to mention, the most important being that this is not a 4 inch sine. When measured, mine is 4.005 between centers. The fixed jaw is about 0.0015 higher than the movable jaw, and finally the movable jaw has a slight taper. All other measured values were within the acceptable range. So not a bad device for the money. Just make sure you know what wheelbase is
The first one I bought had the base bent about 0.05" (1/16") all the way to one side and could be about 0.1" (1/8") be rocked back and forth. "). I thought "Maybe it was just bad" sent it back and ordered another one. The next one was a little higher quality, didn't wobble VERY much, still had about 0.02" of back and forth play, which didn't was not at all accurate to .0004" for tooling and dies. There were gaps in the ground cylinders on the ends, grinding sludge all over the vise (seriously…
