I know Hickey Freeman's suits and blazers and I know their quality. This hat is of high quality and fits well on the head. It's cashmere, soft and durable. Thick enough to keep you warm and comfortable in windy, cold winters.

Hickey-Freeman has a fantastic story that hasn't always been in great shape, but oh my god if that's the quality they're putting out now it looks really good! Superb mid-weight to heavyweight cashmere perfect for mid-Atlantic and New England winters. Both the fabric and the workmanship appear to be flawless. The fit is superb, as is the feel - the leather is as soft as you'd like without the slightest feeling of fragility. What can I say? In love with a very very very well made damn hat!

So I bit the bullet and bought this Hickey-Freeman Wool Knit Hat for almost $40. I was wary of buying something cheaper but maybe not real wool, poorly made and not the right size. Benefits -- Warm and breathable. In fact more than my old one made in Italy. Wider than many, one size fits all hats, same as the old one - 20" diameter not 18" like many hats. That's good for my big head. Soft.Cons - These tablets are simple. My old hat never rolled up. Soft. They may have been processed, pre-damaging the fibers.
