Works well, with extras

The soldered-in connector for $1.29 also gives you a full-featured SPDIF input. I use this with a stereo tool and it does the job.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Volumio + Raspberry PI 2b

Used on an old Raspberry PI 2b with Volumio. Works perfectly. Sending optical output to Schiit Modi 3. I've been using it for about a month with no problems. Works out of the box with Volumio 2.907.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Hard to tell

The right tool for the job when you have an amp with digital inputs

Plug and play DAC board. Installation 5 minutes. Works out of the box with Moode Audio and more. If you have an amplifier with digital inputs, it will do the job. It doesn't do amplification. It leaves that task to the amp you connect it to. This is the right tool for the job.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Fake? for computers and accessories

Did not work. Even installed a custom install of HiFiBerry Raspbian which should automatically detect the hardware. It recognized the DAC, not the Digital+. The steps to change it manually didn't help because the OS just crashed, rebooted, and then reverted back to the DAC in config.txt. I wonder if I received a counterfeit product.

  • Excellent price

Awesome, I love this thing!

Cool thing! Running Shairport on the Pi 3 now gives me digital audio output for Airplay, which isn't possible on any Apple device (the Airport Express has analog outputs, for example). It took a bit of effort to get it working, but their support was great too, and now that it's working it's super reliable and sounds great!

I only use the optical output. It works well.

While all Squeezeboxes in the world are slowly breaking and repairs are very hard to come by (I found a guy in Canada who will try), I needed a solution to replace mine. This and the Raspberry Pi with piCore give you a headless squeeze box. It's a working solution for those of us who don't want to switch to new music software, and it works well.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Nothing

Works as advertised but use HDMI extractor instead

I've been using Hifiberry Digi+ for almost a year now, it works as advertised. My setup included: 1. Raspberry Pi 3B2. Hello Berry3. Klipsch Power Amp (no HDMI input)4. Sony SSCS55 speakers. The Sony Powered subAll only works well when I've used the Revain Basic HDMI Extractor to route the HDMI from the PI to the Revain Basic HDMI Audio Extractor and connect the optical to the Klipsch amp. The sound is much better with HDMI than with Hifiberry's optical output. . Hifiberry audio is flat…

Turn your Raspberry Pi 3 into a music server/player

This is just an update of existing reviews from June 2017 to note that this card works great with Raspberry Pi 3 to offer better performance. Quality, SPDIF digital output (via optical TOSLINK or RCA coaxial). If your A/V receiver has TOSLINK or RCA SPDIF inputs, this is the perfect solution to bypass the poor quality Pi's onboard DAC. ). LMS will automatically find the resulting Squeezelite player without any issues. When using this combination, go to the LMS settings and set the player's…
