Fast is an understatement

The fastest USB 3 I've ever tried. I have $25 entry-level PCI-E cards, $50 mid-range cards, and now this $100 RocketU 1142A. If you need high data transfer speed, you should buy a PCI-e card. Both my external Seagate USB 3.0 2TB drive connected to the rear port and the Atech Flash Pro card reader connected to the internal 19-pin USB 3 port are faster than I've ever been have experienced. Install in any free PCI-E 2.0X4 or faster. Slot, install the included drivers, and you're done. Excellent…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • This is driving me insane

Good card, use the driver CD that came with it

Works as expected after I downloaded the correct drivers from the CD that came with it. I usually try to get the latest drivers off the internet and throw any included CDs in the trash, but my server doesn't recognize this card until I've tried the included drivers. So far I have moved several TB of data to various external devices without any problems.

Although expensive, it works as advertised.

On my 2012 Mac Pro, eSATA is faster than other eSATA cards I had on my 2008 Mac Pro. 10.6.8. I could not find a driver for the operating system.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Easy installation. Plug one into my mid 2010 Mac Pro running OSX El Capitan 10.11.6. Using the native USB 2.0 port, it took 22:36 (mm:ss) to copy a 42.6GB video file to my external hard drive, a WD Elements 4TB. Connected to this USB 3.0 port, copying the same 42.6 gigabyte file took 6:58. The speed increase, while not as big as expected, was significant and also allows me to stream 4k video files (ProRes 422) directly from a WD external hard drive and play them without frame drop or…

  • Ready

  • Style 90

This was a simple install and update for my old MacPro tower. I received the card and installed it in about 1 hour including 50 minutes to thoroughly vacuum the dust balls out of my MacPro. The machine booted and recognized the card in OS X/Yosemite using the Apple-supplied driver. I'll update this review after upgrading to El Capitan, but I chose this card based on the fact that OS X 10.11.x isn't an issue. I bought a card with this hub: Anker USB 3.0 7-Port Portable Aluminum. Hub with 5V 4A…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Something's wrong

Great card to add to car without USB 3.0

Great card to add to car. I didn't have an extra power plug in my case, I've tried it and it still works without it. I have 2 external hard drives with their own power supply. Great little postcard. easy to install and set up.

Pros
  • Many will do
Cons
  • Some problems

Driverless and absolutely painless.

Driverless installation on Linux and Windows. Works flawlessly. I made a silly mistake trying to order a Molex extension as it can only be in the bottom slot of my case. The cables are junk and look like they were assembled by children. You don't actually *need* a 12V power supply for this - if your USB devices aren't drawing significant current from the outlet (and most of them are), then the bus is providing enough power. Don't even bother with the cable. Fur. On the other hand, if you charge

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Socket required

NOW it works for I/O cards

I recently sold my Hackintosh and bought a used 2009 Mac Pro. I have multiple external USB 3.0 and/or eSATA devices, none of which are supported by the Mac Pro. This card seemed like the best option to me, so I bought it. The installation went smoothly and the first boot after the installation went smoothly. However, so far only USB 3.0 ports work. None of my eSATA devices are recognized by the system. Some of my external drives have both ports; Mac Pro "sees" drives when connected via USB 3.0,
