Terrible flickering for low voltage transformers

This is a PWM power supply as described in the detailed description. If you're worried about cheap LED bulbs flickering, this power supply isn't for you. I've attached a slow motion video showing the flickering. Too bad, because the case is much more durable than cheaper, higher-quality power supplies.

Poor design and they just don't work as advertised

This leaves almost no room for a decent cable connection in the space provided. I connected the wire nuts to the 14G copper and it took a lot of effort to get them in place. It's probably not safe. After installation, I had 14 LED bulbs installed under the counter. Each lightbulb consumes 2 watts. This block did not cover them. I had to install some halogen lights to light 1/2 of it.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Expensive

Finally no flickering and smooth dimming

I've already lost count of how much time I've spent learning about LED lighting design. I feel like I could teach a course on that now. Long story short, after a few unsuccessful mixes of incandescent and electronic drivers, I decided to give this "old school style" magnetic driver a shot. That works great. Dims too low enough, no flicker and enough output for brighter bulbs. Very happy. The only reason I took off a star is that the device does get warm, but that's not necessarily a productโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Ideal for under counter lighting with 12V DC 0.5W car lights

I installed this product as part of a kitchen renovation. The under counter cabinet lighting was originally powered by 5w incandescent bulbs in series which required 2x300w ac to ac transformers to power 40 odd bulbs. When I replaced the 12VDC 0.5W LED strings (designed for automotive use) the dimming was random at best and flickering was a big problem at times. With the new setup I use a lot less power (40W vs. 600W) and both the full and dimming functions work very reliably with the same LEDโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Long time

Excellent customer service! Don't buy anything else!

OK, so I don't usually review products, but THIS IS IMPORTANT! After doing my homework on which LED transformer goes with which wall dimmer and which LED strips work best for under cabinet lighting, here are my tips. Buy LED transformers and light strips from the same manufacturer! I bought some cool white strip lights from another seller at Revain and after cutting, installing, splicing and lots of cussing, damn lights where's the purple! I contacted Hitlights and told them I bought aโ€ฆ

Lessons Learned That Can Help

This thing is a beast. One of the best performing drivers out there, but there are a few pitfalls I found along the way. So here is my little tutorial that I hope will help you. Do not overload the driver. The one I bought was rated at 300 watts and an electrical manual I saw says a transformer should never be charged more than 80%. So that means 240W for this 300W driver.2. Calculate the load and buy the right wiring. Talk to an electrician, watch videos, read all instructions and safetyโ€ฆ

Come together, Hitlights!. (update) and they're coming together!

September 14, 2018 So today I received this (40w transformer) the second magnetic transformer I've bought from Hitlights and it's the second of three that came in a bent or arrived broken condition ie hitlights 2 to 2 for me send products of dubious quality. Judging by the rust and missing spot welds on the lug, I'd say the quality is questionable rather than good. I love the quality of power I get from the 150 watt transformer I installed in my bedroom with little to no heat, no hiss or humโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • No color required
