Really satisfied best in wiring

my old connector came loose and was damaged. The design of this plug is really well thought out down to the smallest detail. The cable connection is quite simple. The way you hold it to pull it out of the nest is well thought out. They hold the connector so that you don't snag on the wires and don't pull with them. The LED indicators help me know if all the wiring is hot. And they even included connector lube. The price is very fair. Overall it looks well made and appears to be made in the USAโ€ฆ

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE - Towbars and Winches

After spending another $45 on a wiring module that clearly had a malfunction, I discovered that this connector does indeed power the cute little lightbulbs, BUT 1) the Cord retainers are so flimsy that they won't sever contact with a live cord AND 2) no current goes through the plug - SO - the attached cord stays dead SO I HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER PLUG NOW and have spent half a day fumbling around AND it's not going back it to AMAZON for a refund - just bought it at the end of January and that isโ€ฆ

Good idea, bad execution

I thought this would be a great solution for my trailer. One of the bars was broken and not only provided a nice easy fix but also had LEDs to show if the trailer cable was working. After cleaning and installing the wires twice and no lights on the trailer (but the LEDs were blinking fine!) I cut the wires and used a multimeter to see if the trailer was getting power. Vain. So even if the LEDs are blinking happily, this is no guarantee that the wiring is working. I ended up replacing it with aโ€ฆ

So easy to install!

This was my first time making something electrical and I hesitated, but I took a quick look on YouTube on how to replace it and went ahead. I applied the gel first so inserting and removing the wires was a bit greasy but not a big deal. Well the first few times I plugged in the wires some felt tighter than others and only my left turn signal worked. I took everything apart and noticed that when you reattach the wire the tiny metal clips are there to cut through the plastic to make a goodโ€ฆ

wordle That does not work. Garbage.

Connectors purchased as an OEM replacement. Installed Hopkins, trailer headlights do not work. Tested twice for puncture of connector wire. nope Not connected. I made it myself because the design failed. light doesn't work. Bought new taillights. Still does not work. The entire length of the frame has been replaced. Still does not work. A friend says to replace the new Hopkins plug with an old junk plug (made in the USA) from an old trailer. Plugged in a nasty old plug and added some dielectric

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Nonsense, waste of money, internal error

Installation should be easy, wires are color coded and LEDs indicate function. Next to. It doesn't work at all. It has some kind of internal malfunction. I plugged it in and the LED lights work, but the trailer lights didn't work at all, no lights, no brakes, no turn signals (I checked my light bulbs at this point, NP). After reading a few reviews here I figured it was probably the sharp little barbs that needed to cut into the wire to make contact, so I unplugged the wire and plugged it backโ€ฆ

  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive

Don't oversize the trailer cable, also check the converter

This device makes it easy to connect an existing cable to a new plug, but does not increase the length of the trailer cable. The device prefers the standard 18 gauge but can handle a slightly heavier 16g as seen on the ground wire. Recommend a bolt-on mount to the trailer tongue for a secure fit. (There are holes but no bolts.) Also, be sure to fill the inside of the unit with the supplied dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. The LED indicators will immediately report power to the trailerโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

To be too good to be true? Not worth the trouble!

Two things I liked about this connector were that the connector had LED indicators to indicate a good connection and easy installation. I had to replace the end of the wire harness on my boat trailer because the original end was damaged during a fishing trip I took my boat on. This plug came up during my search and the reviews were mostly very positive and as I can see from the pictures it looked REALLY easy to install. It was very easy to install and my trailer's headlights worked again, butโ€ฆ
