HYDE TOOLS 209651 Painters Multi Review

I read an online review of this tool praising it for the many features it offers for painting jobs. I painted a small cabinet and used it to open some paint cans and apply drywall putty. After the first day of use there was clear rust on it (see photo). I might keep it anyway as it's comfortable but I'm not happy with the quality.

I don't want to stand on the stairs trying to use some of the features of this tool. Good idea, but the end of what I have takes a hard tug to solve. When it detaches, two pieces fly apart. To make matters worse, the bit that was inserted into the butt was already firmly seated there, as if it had been glued or heat-inserted so that the plastic around it had melted and hardened. I read the recommendation on TheSweethome.com and decided on this one. Great tool! I just bought a new house and I'm in the process of painting 90% of the interior. It stays in my back pocket all the time, and I've used it to open cans, clean rollers, apply putty in a pinch when I'm stuck on stairs, remove old drips of paint from trim, pull out nails, and even open beer bottles. Gave two stars because customer service did everything they could to take care of the issue. Was very surprised when I received the product, it didn't come in any packaging at all, just the beer itself in a Revain box. The quality of the product was not what I expected based on the positive reviews and this is the best recommendation.
