    Works for a short time

    I bought this to replace the stock bite valve on my Nathan Trail 7. The valve was well suited to replace the original valve which was leaking after 3 months. This valve now leaks even when the twist is off. A bit messed up, but summer is coming soon, so I'll probably tolerate it until it gets cold and replace it next winter. Will run some tests and later update the water loss rate during the run.

    Great upgrade from the original

    Needed to replace the original Hydrapak bite valve after it seemed to have taken a stab for years; This one fits well and includes an on/off valve + dust cover. The lid can be removed, but it's great for keeping dust out for your next drink on the road. I'm not currently using the on/off valve, but it will come in handy if this valve experiences a similar leak in the future.

    thirst quencher! for outdoor recreation

    I needed a high flow valve so I could go camping so my dog could drink water during our adventures. This valve is easy to use and effortlessly directs water directly into their mouth or onto their paws. As long as the water is higher than what you're trying to pour, you're done! I've been working with a Mazama Designs backpack and I don't think you can go wrong with this valve if you're looking for a valve that will easily squirt water.

    Better than the original

    I used this to replace a leaking bite valve on my standard 2 liter Nathan bottle. Switching was easy, taking a few seconds and a twist of the wrist. Fits perfectly. The flow of the liquid is good, it doesn't drip before the bite at all. The lid (removable) and swivel mechanism are nice improvements over the standard version. I've only used it for a few weeks so durability isn't listed, but for a few bucks it extended the life of the inflatable tube, which was fine except for the valve.

    Amazing water pressure.

    The lid came up. The water flow is excellent, the bite force is low. The only minor issue was that when connecting to the hose, the fit was not secure. But I found a solution for this. I had a heat gun and I shrunk the tubing. The drinking valve is now fixed. I imagine you can use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun if you run into the same problem as me. Possibly a lighter too, but you can put up with some discoloration. Overall absolutely satisfied with this product.

    The stem is shorter than I expected

    I was disappointed with this bite valve when I opened the package. The bite valve stem I'm replacing is about 1/4 inch longer than this short one. The reason this is a problem is that the tube stretched as soon as I pulled the old stemmed bite valve out of the tube. The shorter handle is not secure and wants to pop out. If the shaft was longer the fit would be more secure. Haven't used it yet to check if it works. I wanted to return this bite valve for a replacement, but Revane's list of…

    Product is distorted in photos

    One of the reasons I bought this product compared to eg J.CARP or Osprey offerings is that the photos advertised 5 protrusions that attach the pipe to hold in place. In general, the more the merrier, as this provides a more secure connection. The product still works well at a good price and I decided to keep it for myself but I am disappointed that I did not receive the product shown in the photos.     Great update to the standard Platypus valves!

    I'm a big fan of this bite valve. I have replaced the standard valve on all my Platypus Hoser tanks with these valves. Platypuses make great tanks, but their valves are only so-so. So the flow might not be as fast as a standard duckbill valve, but I still prefer this one. Pros: The round design allows it to be used regardless of its orientation in the mouth. Supplied with on/off valve. Comes with an angle head cap, reduces the bend in the pipe when you don't have a great length to work with…
