This was an easy way to install a 2.5" drive in a 3.5" bay without changing Having to worry about airflow issues (small drive not offering enough resistance and worried about airflow being affected by hotter 3.5" drives). It still lets in too much air compared to a 3.5" drive in the same bay, but it's not as bad as leaving the bay with just a bare 2.5" drive. He took off a star because I'm concerned about the metal spring that supposedly holds the disc. After about a minute the label on theโ€ฆ

Model MB882SP-1S-1B - CUSTOMER ALERT

I first purchased the MB882SP-1S-1B and used it to install a new SSD in my iMac. When I reconnected all the cables and checked the drive, the machine didn't recognize it. Nothing. Nada. So we proceeded in reverse order, dismantling and testing all components individually. The old drive was dead, the new drive worked fine and was formatted for the operating system, the thermal sensor is ready to use. that just left this converter/housing. Limited by sheet metal manufacturing process

Due to a possible delivery delay I have also ordered a similar plastic version (Icy Dock MB882SP-1S-2B) of this product. In the end, both arrived on the same day, giving me the opportunity to carefully compare and choose which one to use for my SSD installation task. I went for this metal version and it works (after trying without SSD installed). recognized by the system, treated by withdrawing the caddy, fiddling with the adapter without really changing anything, then reinstalling).
