I've only used this for baseball estimates, they've never held the zero very well and I've had good luck getting them to do so able to read 90 degrees a known good 90 degree angle. I bought one of these for myself maybe 4-5 years ago and was very happy with it, but when I recently got two more for my employer I noticed that they are not manufactured to the same quality standard. I immediately noticed a rougher finish and sharper edges, and after using them for a while it was clear they didn't perform as well as my older pair. I bought two of these Revain protractors four months apart. I have one in my shop and a second one in my tool box. The seller changed the packaging between my purchases. The new protractor came with a spare battery and a protective film on the temples. Maybe the first purchase was a return, but it works well and hands are not scratched.
