Robust construction!

I like the size. I've been looking for this size for a long time. I wish it was a bit better ground. I work very precisely. This is sufficient quality for the average user.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Expensive

Sharp edges for measuring and marking tools

It's almost impossible to screw up making a protractor. I like this one, it's small and made of stainless steel. As it is made in China the edges were a bit sharp so I filed them down to soften the edges. It still works, but now it's more convenient to hold.

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • Functionality

Great for inside/outside baseboard corners

I had 10 inside/outside baseboard corners in a small bathroom and some of them were almost vertical so the large corner sensors didn't work. Only a few were 90 degrees and I wanted to adjust my miter saw to fit each one. The disadvantage of short arms is that they are too short for a 7 inch square. I bought a 4 inch square and the combo worked great. You should get used to using the square of velocity since it measures angles relative to the normal. Luckily the miter saws are also normally…

For the price, this is a great replica of the Starrett #47 Universal Bevel ($112). The knurled pull handle is easy to tighten and holds very well. As already mentioned, the machining is not finished or deburred. I spent about 15-20 minutes sanding down the sharp edges. The inside corners in the slot are a little harder to smooth out, but still easy. This is a great dovetail layout tool and for the price you can have a few to save a few angles for a project. It's 10 times cheaper and works 95%…

Eloquently Simple! - Measuring and Marking Tools

I just love iGaging. It's very, very eloquently simple and very solid/seems to be very reliable as is most of their entire product line! I saw a Starret with exactly the same everything, right for $100+++?! is there a difference I'm not sure, I've only seen non-real-time photos, but it's the same with other iGaging products I own, I haven't found any obvious difference between the upper tiers and iGaging in terms of price differences, but then again I would never spend more than $100 on a…

Good for $11 for carpenter's square

I say for $11 this sliding bevel is fine. This is a replica of a Starrett model that sells for over $100 which I have not personally seen but noticed when looking for it. It looks like an exact copy right down to the locking mechanism. Pros: Cheap but well made. The locking mechanism is unobtrusive and locks securely. The screw head opposite the thumbscrew is recessed into the housing so that the chamfer on that side lies flat for marking or transferring paper. This is a small handy size for…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other alternatives
