Description of Iittala Finlandia Vase Alvar Aalto

Aalto integrated the natural contours of the Finnish landscape into his free-form vase series. The Finlandia Vase, a new edition based on the original Aalto Vase which is in the Museum’s collection and was introduced at the 1936 Paris World's Fair. It is taller and narrower than the classic Aalto vase, and allows for easy flower arranging. Each piece is mouth-blown of lead-free crystal into a mold and hand polished. Made by Iittala.

Elegant and Modern Vase

THE Finlandia vase adds the perfect touch to any room... Its sleek and modern design compliments my home decor perfectly. My analysis of this vase showed that it is well-made and has a great weight to it. The quality speaks for itself. The only downside is the price point, but its worth the investment for a beautiful piece in your home and kitchen..

Pros
  • Iconic design that remains timeless and elegant.
Cons
  • Expensive investment to add to your home decor.

Glassware Crowdsourcing Research Opportunity

"It's great when my husband brings me flowers," says my guilt-ridden wife. I agree that it's big and majestic and certainly in the shape of Aalto, but it's unfinished. As a chemist I have dealt with glassware and even simple blown glassware and this glassware is not fire polished. That means its edges are still razor sharp. It may be that our particular part missed this last step, but we won't be doing a trial purchase of some parts to find out. Perhaps we can use this forum to hear from others

Pros
  • Manufactured by Iittala.
Cons
  • Low maintainability
