Description of Imperial Berkey Gravity Fed Purification Elements

4.5 GALLON CAPACITY- The portable Imperial Berkey System effortlessly filters water for about 4-8 people each day. Add additional Black Berkey Elements (the Imperial Berkey System can hold a maximum of 6) to increase the flow rate. The system is just 26” tall and 10” in diameter. FILTERS TYPICAL CONTAMINANTS THAT COULD BE PRESENT IN TAP WATER AND RAW, FRESHWATER SOURCES SUCH AS LAKES, RIVERS AND PONDS- Choose only Black Berkey Elements. There are no substitutes for Berkey performance and quality. ECONOMICAL, LONG-LASTING- A pair of Black Berkey Elements lasts for up to 6,000 gallons before replacement is recommended, depending on the quality of influent water. Each additional pair of elements (sold separately) adds an additional 6,000 gallons of contaminant reduction to your system before replacement is recommended. Black Berkey Elements average just 2 cents per gallon of water. INDEPENDENT TESTING- Berkey Water Systems has used several independent third-party labs to test a broad range of typical contaminants found in freshwater sources including tap water, and has conducted Extreme Testing for lead and PFCs in order to show the effectiveness of Black Berkey Elements. DRINK CONFIDENTLY VIRTUALLY ANYWHERE- No electricity, tools, or plumbing required. Travel the world, prepare for emergencies, and take control of your family’s everyday drinking water with your Berkey gravity-fed water filtration system with Black Berkey Elements. Enjoy delicious, refreshing water from the leader in gravity-fed water solutions.

Disappointed right out of the box.

When I opened the box, I first pulled out the lid with a baseball-sized dent just in front of the logo. Installation was easy, but blowing out the filters was such a painful and frustrating step. It tells you not to "touch" the filter, but how else you will install it after blowing it out. After a day of filtering, I decided to buy a water tester. The readings for my tap water and "filtered water" were the same. I'm not sure if my filters are broken or if my reader is broken, but now I think…

Best water easy to use

A bit pricey but again I'm willing to pay for health. I found a really good deal here and what I paid seemed better than most. The water is great and it filters faster than I thought if you fill the top reservoir at least half full. Because gravity feeds less water, this means slower filtration. I only have two black filters and at the moment it's enough for a simple family of 3 with daily visitors. I fill the top container at least twice a day and always have water available. I was worried it…

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Good but not great

Expensive. But IF it delivers on its promises, it's cheaper than using jugs and their filters. Our tap water smells like it comes from a swimming pool. Our jug filters couldn't handle the chlorine levels. This filter/purifier has been great so far (a few months). The water tastes NOTHING like it should. It can use up to 6 black filters and handle a lot of water quickly. Even with just two, we have plenty of clean, tasteless water for drinking, cooking, and pets. NOTE: If you don't mind the…

clean, great-tasting drinking water, less fill

My wife and I are drinking more water now. It even tastes better - or rather, you notice the absence of metals and chemicals. We are very glad we got this and we recommend it to everyone. My only complaint about this is that due to the position of the spout (it's not all the way down) not all of the filtered water can flow through the spout. So there is always some water left over. In the end, however, it simply mixes with filtered water. It took about 2 days to install and fill. There are only

Delicious water from a system that saves time and money!

After seeing one in action at a friend's (and trying the superbly filtered water) we bought this Berkey filtration system. After doing a lot of research into existing brands of water filtration systems, it became clear that Berkey was the best fit for our needs. We drink a lot of water in our home (2 adults and 2 active kids) and have always struggled to keep topping up the little ol' jug of filtered water throughout the day. Now we flood Berkei at night and have clean water all next day. It's…
