Not good for kilns and kiln accessories

I've used them for 2 blacksmithing sessions, maybe an hour each session and they've basically turned to dust and cracked in half or a third. Very very disappointed after spending nearly $50 on four bricks that are now in the trash!

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Can be damaged

Cool thing, one was broken

I like these things. I don't think they ship well and they will probably break half the time. They're almost as easy to cut as drywall. Their insulating properties are truly amazing. I hollowed out two to make a mini horn and it was 2000 degrees inside and barely warm outside. And it can be 5/8 thick on a forge plate and still keep everything warm.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Best price per dollar!

After researching the Revain market for other products sold. It was the best choice for me in terms of dollars per piece. At $77.99 for 8 bricks, that's $9.75 per brick. So I chose them because all the other stones were more expensive. I mean these stones did the job for me and my little project so no disappointment here. Bang for the dollar!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Crack due to heat

Brick arrived in order. However, one of them developed a crack when exposed to heat. I tried contacting Revain to see if I could get a new stone without too much hassle. My only option is to pack and return all stones. In the meantime I have done a lot of work with the bricks. Guess I'll have to eat up the cost and order another set of 4.

Pros
  • Ovens and oven accessories
Cons
  • Doubtful

Mismatched, arrived broken in a flimsy box

These stones were very expensive. Two of the four were not 2.5 inches tall. One of them was broken. The box they came in was very thin, it wasn't sealed but there was a piece of tape at the top and bottom. Brick dust inside and outside the package. You can clearly see the mess and damage in the picture. They were needed for a project so I left three decent ones. Very disappointed.

Pros
  • Stove Accessory
Cons
  • Very expensive

Works well in a homemade forge

Using these bricks and some fireplace bricks from the hardware store (a burner from Mathewson Metals) I built a small propane forge. These stones are the ones to get. Bricks from the hardware store will wear away from the heat, and voids will appear where the material separates. These bricks still look new after being heated to an orange temperature for several hours. They're soft and you can easily break or damage them if you handle them roughly, but heat isn't a problem. I welded the thing…

Pros
  • Crafts and Sewing
Cons
  • not reliable
