Review on Insulating Brick Ovens Fireplaces Forges Beading & Jewelry Making by Jennifer Roberts

Using these bricks and some fireplace bricks from the hardware store (a burner from Mathewson Metals) I built a small propane forge. These stones are the ones to get. Bricks from the hardware store will wear away from the heat, and voids will appear where the material separates. These bricks still look new after being heated to an orange temperature for several hours. They're soft and you can easily break or damage them if you handle them roughly, but heat isn't a problem. I welded the thing together and won't be replacing those bricks from the hardware store.
