Freeze PC in data storage

I write reviews when I have time or when I think it's something important that people should know about. In this case, it's the latter; I'm pretty sure this device was the direct (or indirect) cause of my computer freezing anywhere between 1-3 times a day for a month. I will explain in detail. I bought it along with another hard drive as I didn't have SATA ports on my motherboard and I need it to use the new drive. On the second day after installing both devices, my PC got stuck on the desktopโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Connect four SATA drives and ONE M.2 B-Key SSD to any available PCI-E x4 slot for speeds up to 1700MB/s.
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

Good PCIe 3.0 adapter

I use a couple of these to expand storage on my UnRAID server. I decided to use this instead of the standard LSI SAS card as I wanted something with PCIe 3.0 support. It was just plug and play; I disconnected the hard drives connected to my old Crest PCIe 2.0 IO card and this one and it worked. I didn't notice any of the performance drops under load that many users report with Marvell-based cards (although I didn't experience these issues with my previous IO Crest Marvell-based card either)โ€ฆ

Pros
  • Can support a port multiplier that is not in a RAID configuration.
Cons
  • Dull hardware

Plug and Play, fits ATX case

Installed on asus Prime x570-P. A bit nervous due to the fact that it's actually plug and play. I installed it and was worried because the attached hard drive didn't show up anywhere in the BIOS. I exited bios and went into windows 10, the disk was defined in disk management and everything works fine. I have one hard drive connected to it so far and this hard drive is part of a stripe of hard drives connected to mobo. Everything works fine, although I can't comment on any bottlenecks as thereโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Plug and Play is supported, no additional software installation or configuration required.
Cons
  • I will write later
