USB ports do not work with iPod

Bought this card to use with an iPod and was very disappointed. My new iPod only comes with a USB 2.0 cable and the USB ports on this card DO NOT WORK with the iPod. I had to purchase an additional cable (iPod to Firewire) to get my iPod to work. The Firewire ports on this board WORK with the iPod, but you will need a Firewire cable, which newer iPods may not have.

Pros
  • Complete kit
Cons
  • No insurance

Great product, good price, wide compatibility

This card is an excellent combination of Firewire and USB2.0 connections, making it a very good way to add both functions to an existing PC with a single PCI slot . I have two of these cards on two different computers and they both work perfectly, the first for over a year and the second since I bought them a few weeks ago. This card offers broad operating system support. I've used it on Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, and Windows XP, as well as various flavors of Linux including VectorLinux, Arch…

Absolutely amazing service and product

Ordered this card yesterday (19th October 2006) and received it today (20th October 2006) Free shipping with Prime - great service. Map? I installed it in my Quicksilver. After 3 minutes and 2 minutes, my external 300GB USB 2.0 drive was screaming while I was doing a full backup. There is no need to go to the manufacturer's website to get drivers - Tiger supports this out of the box. Excellent value for money.

Good value for money, works like a charm!

This card installed without any problems on my Dell Dimension running Windows XP Pro (Service Pack 2). There weren't even drivers to install; Windows simply recognized the new FireWire and USB devices and installed them without prompting. The device works great. I noticed a huge increase in data transfer speed from my USB 2.0 enabled digital camera (my Dell only had USB 1.1). I definitely recommend this PCI card!

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

Forget the Belkin, go for the GUF320

This item was easy to install. I have a dual Mac 1.25 G4. No driver installation under Panther 10.3.3. If you are using a Mac earlier than 10.2.X, you need to visit the Iogear website for USB 2.0 drivers. You shouldn't have any problems using this card with the G5 as the bus also supports PCI cards. Apple should just sell this card in their stores. This is my first Iogear product and is currently the best PCI FireWire/USB combo card on the market.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home

  • Seniors

Install with care!

When I first tried this card, I had Windows Me and an external USB ethernet between my computer and modem for high-speed cable service. This got me completely disconnected from the internet when trying to route it through the USB 2.0 ports. The Windows Internet Connection Wizard did not help me to reconnect to the network. I had to remove the circuit board and use my boot disk's recovery function just to be able to access the internet again through my USB 1.1 port. Finally, to use this board…

Easy install but unreliable firewire slots, slow warranty repair

I've had this card since November 2006 and I've just noticed that the 2 firewire ports only work intermittently. I thought my new camcorder broke when I tried to use the iogear card's firewire port. But when I connected to another available non-Iogear Firewire slot, the camcorder worked. Now I have to go to the trouble of getting warranty service on an Iogear card. The USB ports on the card worked perfectly. Update: It's been over 3 weeks and I'm still waiting for a warranty repair/replacement…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Works great with I/O cards

This is much better than an external device. No need to worry about extra power supply and less mess. If you need additional USB and Firewire ports, this is the one for you. I just wish the FireWire speed was 800 instead of 400, but for $40 who can complain? If you think you're Luddites and can't install a PCI card, I can tell you it's very easy. Actually, it's not much different than plugging in your USB device. Just open your computer, remove the PCI cover (one screw) and put it in place! And

Very easy upgrade to USB 2.0 + Firewire for non-experts

My computer was one of the first to have XP installed and USB 2.0 wasn't available when I bought it in 2001 but I didn't need a new computer. However, when I bought a new IPOD it was inevitable that I would need the much faster speeds that USB 2.0 offers. So I asked a friend how to do it. It's very easy! I ordered and received the card, opened the computer, tried to unplug and avoid static electricity, plugged my new card into the PCI slot (my friend showed me what it looks like), plugged…
