My analysis of this product showed that it was a complete waste of money. It did not drill through metal as advertised and was extremely overpriced. The only positive attribute I could find was the sleek design. Avoid this product and look for a more reliable option in the Cutting Tools category of Industrial and Scientific.
I was hoping this brand bit would be better. Its heavy shank is not suitable for a hammer drill and it is not hard enough to pierce a mower blade (hardened steel). If I just wanted to drill in mild steel I could get ones that are great for port freight or ones that fit my percussion tool. It's a good tool, but don't expect it to be anything special.
This is just what I need to ream a few holes in 12" x 12". The ship's drill chisel became tangled in the existing hole. The idea was to make some sort of pilot hole for this that would be deep enough so the drill wouldn't chew through the surface of the hole. It did just that. For holes that widened from 1/2 inch to 1 inch, a marine screw (Irwin) was centered to widen the holes. When expanded from 3/4" to 1" it didn't quite center, but it didn't deviate much either (the old hole was expandedβ¦
