Ideal for applications requiring an extended reach. Made from premium M-2 high-speed steel for increased durability. Black oxide finish resists corrosion. Not recommended for deep drilling applications. 135-degree split-point tip starts drilling immediately with less force and eliminates "walking" across the work surface.

Great bits as always

Irwin's HSS bits are great. They stay sharp longer than most and are more break-resistant than high-tech drill bits, especially when used carelessly, e.g. B. when drilling in hard-to-reach places with an unlubricated hand drill. I recently drilled 96 holes with an Irwin HSS 5/16 bit in a 1/4" plate on a drill press running at low speed. The drill just needed resharpening when I was done. This 7/16" bit will be the same.
