Jabsco 17215-0000 Drill Pump Kit: Efficient and Versatile Solution for Fluid Transfer Review

Unfortunately this pump motor failed quite spectacularly after three months when we were pumping the engine coolant out of our radiator with crackling, clouds of smoke and a burning smell. It's quite expensive for the level of quality and durability.

I wanted to use it instead of a hand pump to drain oil out of a boat. It didn't work and I used an old hand pump. I didn't return it before the return window closed so I lost $42. That part is on me, but save your money and look elsewhere. It's a piece of junk.

I have it and it looks reasonable for pumping water from a tank into a house. I did not open the packaging as it was written that it is NOT intended for drinking water. The package had a California label stating it contained cobalt metal. It should not be used for anything that requires human consumption, drinking water, or food preparation. This information is missing in the description.

I'm a heavy equipment mechanic. Today I used this pump in combination with my Milwaukee M18 drill press. I put in about 10 gallons of 75w-90 gear oil, 4 gallons of 10w gear oil and 30 gallons of 46 hydraulic oil. It ran fine. I connected the inlet to a pipe, not a hose. This is a great little and great value pump. UNLESS YOU USE THE SMALL SMALL GAUGE TUBE that comes with it. I replaced both of the hoses that came with them with 1/2 inch id heavy wall vinyl hoses. Much better design than most pumps on the market. I've been using mine for 2 years now and was just rethinking it. I use it to pump out a small amount of old gas from the many small and large gas engines on my farms so I can have fresh gas anywhere. I used this to change the oil in our RV with diesel pushrods and rear radiator. Unfortunately, the oil filler opening is located above the cooler. Our Cummins holds 4 gallons of oil.
