I noticed from the start that the adapter gets a little warm, but that didn't bother me as I only used the USB for a short time. When I first used HDMI for a 1 1/2 presentation it overheated and failed. I'm just glad it didn't affect my MACBook Pro.

Bought 1 year ago and now having connection loss issues. I contacted the company directly and they told me that it was most likely defective but that I should send the defective part and pay for shipping. I do not recommend this product or company.

Everything ok. Except for the card reader. I never tested it when it was new. After 4 months I finally had to use card readers but unfortunately they don't work. Maybe because the hub gets very hot because I'm using HDMI and a network cable and this has affected the card readers.

I ordered this adapter probably 8 months ago and it's already broken. It always got hot, very, very hot when plugged in and used. But now it doesn't read any of the USB ports and doesn't charge my laptop. I expected a lot more from it. Not worth the money - look elsewhere!

I use it with my Lenovo Yoga C940. It has a limited number of available ports. This device solves the problem. The power supply uses one of the ports, but this lets power through. It's really nice to be able to connect an external monitor via HDMI, midi via USB devices, ethernet cables, flash drives, etc.

Great to have all the extra peripherals. I spend a lot of time on client work with just my laptop, and with a few built-in ports, it fills up quickly. Extending USB-C offers much more flexibility. It's also great at home in my office. I can use multiple HDMI outputs for my monitors instead of 1 HDMI and 1 VGA. Keeps everything clean and ensures better output quality.

I bought this product because I need it to connect my camera to my Mac. While I haven't done so yet, I have noticed that it gets hot and, say, over 100 degrees Fahrenheit when plugged into a computer. That's absurd. I am so concerned for my safety and the safety of my laptop that I only use it for a short amount of time (which is not the time you waste when working with photography).

In my case the 4k monitor was not recognized even though the laptop and my graphics card support 4k. I contacted J5 and their support was excellent - I had a plug and play device (aka windows) that was NOT working but they helpfully said the device was fine because it didn't have plug and play. he is warm And I plug it into an external USB-C charger - as recommended so it doesn't draw power from the laptop (although that might only matter if you're mobile and unlikely to use an adapter).
