Worked out great! best in my review

I have these closet doors that require this piece and I was so glad to find these online--I could not find them at my local Loews store. I installed myself. Not difficult. Work great! Sue R.

Pros
  • Great product. Doors open and close so much better now
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for doors that are frequently opened and closed

Works as advertised

Installed it easily and it works like it's supposed to. Very simple, and you can adjust it to the door once it's installed which is nice. Good stuff.

Pros
  • Closet doors.
Cons
  • The ball catches may need to be adjusted frequently, particularly with regular door use

Don't forget you installed them

Sounds silly but I find myself twisting the doorknob before I open the door which does nothing. The product is easy to install and once adjusted [easy to adjust] works nice. Worth the money.

Pros
  • Great value, exactly what I needed to replace old broken hardware. Fast delivery. Easy install.
Cons
  • The product can be difficult to find in stores, requiring online purchase

Ball door catch work great

These work great! My detached garage door kept slightly opening when a mild breeze came and would bring cold air in. These are tension adjustable. They installed very easy.

Pros
  • Easy to install in about 10 minutes. Works great.
Cons
  • Not very durable — it’s painted black. So scratches off right away

Do not try to buy an 11/14” drill bit

A High quality bit of hardware, but whoever edited (failed to edit) the instructions should be sent back to retake imperial measuring 101. Inch increments are not measured in 14ths.11/14” drill bits do not exist.

Pros
  • Easy replacement
Cons
  • The latch is not strong enough to hold heavier doors

Ball threaded in tube is great idea.

I like the ball design. It is better than the old ones. Some how the screws provided are a little smaller than existing ones. Did manufacturers review what the old screws used?

Pros
  • Very good quality, sturdy, good spring, will last for years
Cons
  • The ball catches may not work properly in areas with temperature fluctuations

Nice Product, Dismal Instructions

I've seen some poorly translated instructions but this one is a head scratcher. Go to your local hardware store and ask for an "11/14'" drill bit just to see what reaction you get. Also, drilling "1-2/11" deep is too shallow by my measurement. There should have been a retainer nut to keep the plunger from moving once it is set. I'm planning on using a 3/4" bit to drill a 1-1/2" deep hole and applying Loctite to keep the plunger in place. That is what I recommend.

Pros
  • Product was great!
Cons
  • The product may not work properly with doors that have warped over time

Successful replacement of ball/plates

We used these to replace just the ball/plate on the tops of four doors. The original parts were installed over 25 years ago, and are no longer made. With a small increase in the size of each door’s recessed area, these installed easily, and after twisting the ball columns to adjust ball heights, they are working well. Success!

Pros
  • I thought the price was excellent.
Cons
  • The ball catch mechanism can easily get stuck and become unusable

Great Replacement - my new review

I had two doors that had this type of closure, both had failed and thus the doors obviously wouldn't stay closed. Bought these to replace the failed ones and found them to be a perfect replacement with an added feature, they can be adjusted to get the right "tension" in the ball to hold the doors closed better. I found these to be outstanding replacements and thus would highly recommend!

Pros
  • Easy to install and adjust. Works better than original.
Cons
  • The product is overpriced for its limited functionality

economic and good quality

these fit perfect and I got two for the price of one. My cabinet door clicks and unclicks smoothly and securely. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Replaced the old ones, easy to install.
Cons
  • The ball catches can rattle and make noise when the door is closed

Worked well but cheap screws broke off inside door!

Just installed and it worked fine with the existing hole where the previous hardware broke. I like that the ball and spring is complete and threaded to easily install on the top.Huge issue is that the screws provided are SO CHEAP. The first one broke off inside my door and obviously created a huge issue trying to work around a broke screw stuck inside the door. I had to use my own screws after that, which are steel and have bigger threading. So my recommendation would be to throw away the junk…

Pros
  • when ordering remember that there are different models and sizes
Cons
  • The product is not suitable for doors with glass panels as the ball catches can scratch the glass

Easily adjustable good for me

I like this ball catch because it is adjustable and held firmly in place by a threaded plate. The old catch that it replaced fell out because it was held in place only by friction.

Pros
  • Worked as expected.
Cons
  • The adjustable feature may wear out quickly with regular use

Easy to install and they are, so far, workimg great

These are working great and were relatively easy to install. The only complaint I have is that they are a little difficult to adjust after getting them installed. Not sure how they'd make it easier.Overall, they get the job done.

Pros
  • Product works fine, good quality. Delivery was late due to the mail problems here
Cons
  • The product may not be strong enough to hold doors in windy conditions

smooth as silk - my new review

so happy I bought this = the one my contractor installed constantly sprung loose - this one was easy to install and the door opens and cloes very smoothly --- I hope it lasts

Pros
  • Works great
Cons
  • The ball catches may require frequent lubrication to operate smoothly

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No bad for the price

The threaded hole for the catch is very sloppy. It will back off over time. I used threadlocker and made hole just deep enough to keep it in place.

Pros
  • Title implied it was cabinet hardware but definitely DOOR hardware not cabinet door.
Cons
  • The product may not be long-lasting or durable enough for heavy traffic areas

Work beautifully - just what we needed.

We selected these ball catches for two sets of new French doors that would be installed in our Living Room and Dining Room in order for both rooms to be more private. Both sets of doors had antique glass pull knobs, and so we needed a way to keep the doors closed without any annoying or cumbersome latching mechanism. These ball catches were the perfect solution. Our carpenter said they were very easy to install, virtually invisible in place, and we found they do a stellar job easily catching…

Pros
  • Would have given 5 stars.but the screws it comes with are VERY cheap and strip easy
Cons
  • The product is not suitable for exterior doors or areas with high humidity
