Very inaccurate, very poorly made. Useless laser. I was so incredibly disappointed with this purchase that I immediately returned it. The laser also always emits 3 beams, which makes it dangerous in the workplace. I couldn't believe how awful this level was. Instead I decided to just buy a cheap green laser and mount it on my aluminum spirit level and it works great, I've been using it since the day I heard that useless poorly made excuse for "bubble level" got back.

This laser is visible outdoors in daylight. It is also visible from a greater distance than most. I don't know exactly how far it's visible, but I used it in broad daylight at a distance of 75 feet. Lowe's had another brand that would do the same thing for a fraction of the cost but they are no longer available so I had to pay a heavy price for them leaving my Kobalt (from Lowe's) at work. The cobalt is under $20, and this Johnson is over $100. The price is not good but the product is good.

The laser itself seems to work fine. However, the leveling base had a broken screw that raises or lowers the portion of the base needed to level the laser body. I called them and they refused to sell me the screw even after I wholeheartedly agreed to pay for the replacement multiple times. I've learned the hard way that many gauges aren't accurate enough to be useful. My experience with layers is no exception. My old torpedo laser stopped working and I needed a replacement. I settled on the 40-6184 based on less negative reviews and personal experience with my 24 inch Johnson beam level being accurate enough for my use.
