📻 Kaito KA500IP-GRN Voyager Green Solar/Dynamo AM/FM/SW NOAA Weather Radio with Alert and Cell Phone Charging Capability Review

I should have known better than to buy the Rocam first but sent it back the next day. I ordered a Kaito 500 and it does everything they say, clear audio picks up every station just like the old one that died after swimming in the pool. I have an idea why I didn't buy this Kaito first.

Good radio - I wish it was in the description that the batteries can be charged via a USB cable. I ordered a $10 110v charger which I didn't need which made the radio more expensive than it should have been. Good sound quality, good reception from remote stations and WX.

I bought this product primarily for use as an emergency radio. However, it has many other features that can be useful in such circumstances, such as: B. a flashlight and a reading lamp. All this at a reasonable price. The hand grip for charging the device is easy to use, although several other options are available. The price was reasonable given the facilities.

This thing is pretty solid, well built (definitely not indestructible), thanks to my iPod it will stand up to multi day trips, hunting and hiking. Using a rechargeable battery and a standard antenna, I picked up a conversation from people saying they were in Texas with acceptable reception, and excellent - bell-clear - reception from a station (who spoke Spanish?) announcing they were in Florida and I was in MICHIGAN!

My brother has a KA500 and brought it with him when he visited me last year. I was so impressed with the reception that I bought this one. I don't know why this one doesn't pick up and hold AM stations between 530 and 870 in our area. I've been waiting for my brother to come this year so we can compare two radios in the same area almost side by side and it's still very good but it's not. I was hoping I could trade this one for another exactly the same. We think something is just not right.

AC/DC charger not included. This will prevent you from plugging in the iPhone accessory cable. The reception is mediocre at best and I live in a big city with lots of radio stations. Compared to a regular $15 clock radio, the alarm signal is much better. As I've had it too long to return it I can only hope that it actually lasts should an emergency arise. I chose this Kaito over another brand that is $20 less. At this point, I'm not sure if it costs $20 more than the most popular weather radio on Revain. This radio has many moving parts and although it has many moving parts I feel that ALL the parts need to be treated with great care. To be honest the main goal was to have a weather radio.
